Monthly Outings

Generally, we go off on an outing the third weekend of every month. Since our Troop focuses on backpacking, we'll usually take about a 10-mile roundtrip backpacking trip, five miles in on Saturday and five miles out on Sunday. Some of our most popular weekend hikes:

  • Point Reyes
  • Forest of Nicene Marks
  • Big Basin
  • Sword Lake
  • Dardanelles Lake (near Lake Tahoe)
  • Austin Creek
  • Relief Reservoir
  • Mount Tamalpais

We also love to go skiing. Each winter in either January or February we'll spend a weekend skiing. In the past few years we've gone to:

  • Yosemite's Badger Pass
  • Alpine Meadows
  • Sugar Bowl
  • Donner Ski Ranch
  • Kirkwood
  • Bear Valley

And we often take other car-camping trips. These include:

  • Dillon Beach
  • Chabot Regional Park
  • Russian River canoe trip
  • Mount Diablo rock climbing
  • Bodega Dunes
  • Pinnacles National Monument
  • Black Diamond Mines
  • Del Valle Reservoir
